DoveFM is a network of Christian radio stations and translators owned and operated by Calvary Chapel of Russell serving communities in northwestern Pennsylvania and western New York.
What Is DoveFM?
In the early 1980s, God gave a vision to a few men from River of Life Church (now Calvary Chapel of Russell) to launch a Christian radio station in Russell, PA to serve Warren County and Chautauqua County, NY. They formed God's Station, Inc. and in December of 1984, WGSI, i-103 Radio began broadcasting at 103.1 on the FM dial. A series of unfortunate events occurred a few years later and we lost the station. We prayed for a long time that God would once again open the door for this outreach.
The vision for a renewed radio ministry (DoveFM) began in July 2007 when the FCC opened a filing window for new non-commercial/educational FM Stations.
History
Since our earliest days, the mission of DoveFM has remained the same: to see lives and hearts changed in our communities by sharing the truth of God’s love with our listeners. We seek to do this in the following ways:
Introduce listeners to the love of God, demonstrated by Jesus Christ, by providing relevant and timely messages from the Bible that address family, work, finances, relationships, and all aspects of daily life.
Encourage listeners by playing the very best modern Christian music (along with the occasional “classic track”) that uplifts people and glorifies God.
Serve as a resource allowing our listeners to stay informed about local, regional, and national news, warnings about local emergencies, and special events in our communities
Our first new radio station, WTWT (90.5) in Bradford, PA, went on the air in November 2011 followed about a year later by a second station in Tidioute, PA. God then opened the door for us to purchase a small, 100-watt FM station in nearby Youngsville. We were able to increase the power to 2500 watts in December 2016 in order to better serve Warren and Chautauqua Counties. The years that followed included opportunities to purchase and (and trade) several other stations and translators. Most recently, DoveFM acquired a translators in Erie and Corry, PA. We now have five frequencies.
